Frequently Asked Questions
When do my 2006 and 2007 funds expire? Your 2006 funds will expire August 1, 2008. At this time, your 2007 funds will carry over until August 1, 2009 << Top
Why didn't my school receive Title II.D funds this year?
Due to federal funding cuts in 2006 and 2007, MODESE decided to distribute Title II.D funds 100% through competitive grants. The decision was made in an effort to provide schools that do receive funding with enough funds to make a significant impact on enhancing education through technology. Competitive grants are two-year grants. In 2007 public and private schools in the following Missouri districts will receive Title II.D funds:
Administrators may elect to provide a $100 per day stipend for teachers to attend professional development that is outside the school day. PI*TEC credits fund these stipends. You must complete a set of forms to receive the stipends. Professional development stipends in amounts different from the standard $100 per day amount, may be requested using the Special Request/Custom Order form. << Top
Where can I find my stipend and equipment confirmation forms? These forms are located at www.pitec.org in the right-hand column. You may fax them to us at 785-864-0704. << Top
Can I buy equipment and be reimbursed? No. Federal requirements do not allow us to reimburse purchases. We must be direct billed by a vendor. We are willing to work with most vendors to complete your order. Stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, and others do not direct bill PI*TEC and therefore you are not allowed to use them as vendors. << Top
Do you make a profit on equipment? No. We work with several vendors to list competitive prices. The price you are charged is the price we are charged by the vendor. PITEC does not hold back money from an equipment purchase. << Top
Is PI*TEC the only allowed source of professional development? PI*TEC offers a professional development on a variety of topics and our staff is available to tailor services to meet your needs. There are, however, a number of high quality sources for professional development available in Missouri. You may request custom professional development using our Custom Ordering procedures. << Top
Can I attend a technology in education conference using PI*TEC funds? We examine these requests on a case-by-case basis. Use Custom Ordering procedures to make this type of request. PI*TEC does NOT pay for travel costs associated with attending conferences or other professional development. << Top
Why do my teachers need to enroll in professional development? Didn?t I already register them? Registering for PI*TEC training is a two-step process. First, the administrator authorizes dispersal of PI*TEC credits for training. Second, the individual teacher enrolls in a session previously authorized by the administrator. The system allows the administrator to have sole access to the PI*TEC credits. Enrolling your teachers is very helpful to us. With an up-to-date contact list for each session, we are able to email reminders as convey preparation and follow-up information. << Top
Can PI*TEC pay to have my school wired for a network? PI*TEC funds are not used for this type of service. E-rate is a possible funding source for network development. << Top
Can I use PI*TEC funds to purchase computer tables? No. PI*TEC funds cannot be used to purchase furniture. << Top
I priced a computer on the Dell website for Home and Home Office users. Is this quote acceptable? Because PI*TEC is operated by the University of Kansas, you must obtain Dell computer quotes from a Higher Education Sales Representative. A quote generated through Dell?s Home or Home Office Sales Website or K-12 Education Sales Website may not be valid. Please call or email us for contact information. << Top |
